Gauntlet is a fantasy-themed arcade game which can be played by one to four players simultaneously, which was highly unique for its day. Each player must chose a charter, each with a different gift and skill: Thor the Warrior, Merlin the Wizard, Thyra the Valkyrie or Questor the Elf. The Warrior is strongest in hand-to-hand combat, the Wizard has the strongest magic, the Valkyrie has the greatest armour and the Elf is the fastest in movement. Working together is essential to surviving the many levels.

Based on the movie, Ghostbusters. The player must monitor the map of New York City for ghost alarms and casual spirits, and plot a route to the alarmed area. You get to control the Ghostbuster vehicle as it drives through traffic and capture casual ghosts on the way. Once at the location take position and activate your proton beams and toss a trap to the ground. Manoeuvre the ghosts over the placed trap and activate the trap.

GI Joe – Cobra Strike

You are G.I. Joe, and your orders are to defend the recruits at a training camp from the evil Cobra. Go figure that Cobra is attacking the camp in the form of a giant snake. Use the shield to block the deadly venom and laser beams coming from the snake. When possible, shoot the snake with eight direct hits to destroy it and move on to the next level. In the two player version of the game, both players can play co-operatively or they can worked to beat each other.

Glacier Patrol

You mission is to defend the earth from an alien ship destined to teraform the Earth by covering it with ice. Your sole weapon is a super heated laser that melts the ice as it falls from the sky above. You must dodge the snowballs as you blast the ice blocks. Getting hit stuns you, but the ice continues to fall, making your mission that much harder so don’t get hit by the snow balls!

Golf provides traps, trees and water. However, the game does not provide much in the terms of texture to judge the roughness of the course. The game supports one and two player modes in low resolution.


Atari 2600 Gopher

A pesky gopher is after your carrot patch! Your objective is to stop this gopher before all of your carrots are gone. The gopher tunnels in the ground at the bottom of the screen. Use your shovel to fill in the gophers tunnels. This gopher is pretty smart and fast. If you don’t fill in the tunnels quick enough it will make it to the surface and run off with one of your carrots! Once all your carrots are gone, the game ends.


Atari 2600 Gorf

Gorf is essentially four games in one and played as levels. The first level has you behind a defensive shield, defending against an alien attack, which looks very much like the game space invaders. Use your shields to dodge bombs and take out all the aliens. The second level is similar to the first, only your defensive shield is gone and the enemies tend to swoop down over the level as opposed to those row formations. Bonus ships also tend to appear in this level.

Grand Prix is an action racing game for one player. Grand Prix uses an overhead perspective that scrolls horizontally. Your goal is to reach the finish line in the shortest possible time. As can be expected, there are several obstacles on the tracks with the sole purpose to slow you down. Some of the most annoying obstacles include numerous other cars that often get in your way, oil slicks will cause you to temporarily lose control, and on the more difficulty tracks narrow bridges will cause you to come to a complete stop if you miss the path.


Atari 2600 Gravitar

Your mission here is to save the universe from the destruction of the evil Gravitar, Each galaxy he conquers leaves behind extreme gravitational forces, a powerful, explosive reactor and deadly bunkers. Stop Gravitar by taking back the twelve solar systems located in four galaxies that are under his control. Each solar system has a star, an alien reactor base, and three to four planets. Either visit all of the planets and destroy all enemy bunkers, or activate the reactor at the core of the alien base and escape before it explodes.


Atari 2600 Gremlins

Gremlins adapted from Steven Spielberg movie of the same name. The game takes place just after midnight when the Gremlins are running around Billy’s living room. You are Billy and your goal is to catch all of the Mogwai and return them to their cage and to destroy all of the Gremlins with a sword. Each level has a six minute time limit. However, as the levels progress gameplay becomes faster and the Gremlins and Mogwai more numerous.

Atari 2600 Gyrus

To save the solar system, fly your spaceship around nine planets. Starting with a single canon, you can gain another cannon after shooting a power up satellite. Upon clearing each planet, you enter a bonus stage where weapons and bonus points are collected. Your ship moves around what looks to be the top of a vortex, shouting at aliens coming out of it. This game was very popular during the 1980s for its game play, sound and graphics.


Atari 2600 H.E.R.O.

Your mission is to make your way through the dangerous mineshaft and locate the miners. This must be done before running out of energy and avoiding dangerous creatures and lava Roderick Hero has some tools to aid in his mission. The prop pack will allow you to hover and fly around the mineshaft and avoid the many dangers. Your helmet features a short range microlaser beam which can be used to destroy the bats, spiders, snakes and other creatures you’ll encounter in the mines.


Atari 2600 Halloween

Your mission is to protect the children you are baby-sitting. The setting is a large two-story house. You assume the role of Laurie Strode. The psychopath Michael Myers has escaped from the mental institution to seek his revenge. Protect the children as you move from room to room, all while avoiding the knife of Michael Myers. Be careful as the house is full of dangerous blackouts and dead-ends within its sixteen rooms. Keep an eye out for a knife to protect yourself and the children.


Atari 2600 Hangman

Hangman is an electronic version of the popular children’s game. Figure out the word by guessing letters one word at a time. The game is over when the image of a hanged man is produced. A part of the hanged man is drawn with every wrong guess. Essentially, you have 11 guesses per word. A point is earned each time a word is completed. Increased difficulty results in longer words.

Haunted House

Your goal is to enter the mansion and retrieve all three urns before you lose your nine lives. The game is played from an overhead point of view where you see only your eyeballs as you explore the four floors of the maze like mansion. There are many creatures wandering throughout the mansion to make your journey difficult. Watch out for tarantulas, giant vampire bats and one fast moving ghost as they will take one of your lives if you get too close.
