First, successfully land the rocket on the planets surface. This task will be very similar to those who have played Jupiter Lnader. The next stage of the game, control the astrobus, picking up as many commuters as you can.

Climb your way to the top of a series of buildings, where a helicopter is waiting to pick you up and take you to the next building. You can climb sideways and up, but are unable to go back down. Watch out for windows as they will open and close as you climb and could result in you loosing grip and falling to your death. You have three lives and are awarded a new life every 30,000 points. Think the windows will be enough of an obstacle, well here are a few others.

Your starting depth will depend on the difficulty level: Games one, two, three, or four place you at levels five, nine, thirteen, or one, respectively. Your weapons are a sword which provides unlimited attacks won’t kill wizards. The wand has limited attacks so use it sparingly. The wand is good is useless on dragons.

When your alter ego, Bentley, collects all of the gems on the current castle, he will level-up and begin with a more difficult castle. Be careful of the many dangers on your quest such as dangerous creatures. However, along with the dangers is a magic hat which will make you temporarily invincible. This hat appear randomly.

This game was first sold for $100 each — much more expensive that today’s games! Cubicolor mixes the classic Rubik’s Cube with sliding puzzles. You have a grid made of up different colours. On either side of the screen you will see a 3×3 pattern of different colours. Your goal is to get the nine squares in the centre of the grid to match the same pattern.

The Cuttle Cart is a unique cartridge in that it is not a game but has built-in RAM and an audio cable that connects to a CD player or computer. The Cuttle cart then connects to a windows computer. So what does it do? Well, the Cuttle cart is used to load game ROMs on tot he cartridge from a PC to be used on an Atari console.

Dark Chambers is very similar to Gauntlet. There are 26 different levels filled with hidden treasures. As with Gauntlet, there are also many dangers that want to see nothing other than your doom. These dangers include zombies, wraiths, skeletons, wizards, and the grim reaper. Each of the creatures in the game has a different strength. But what is real nasty about this game is that when a creature is shot, it transforms into the next weaker creature. Personally, I think this is cruel, but hey, its still a fun game.

Death Trap

You have been sent to deliver a message. But the giant ship IT gets in your way and it does not want this message to get to the Galactic Emperor. Destroy all three power generators to escape. The third generator does not appear until the other two are destroyed. IT is protected by three shields above you that are labelled A, B, and C, from top to bottom. There is a forth shield, D, below you. These shields are nasty as touching either one will result in your death.


Atari 2600 Decathalon

The Activision Decathlon attempts to use the player’s own physical endurance to simulate athletic performance. Players move their joysticks left and right to run, and hit the red button to perform actions such as vaulting or throwing the discus. There are 10 different Olympics events including: 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400-meter race, 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1500 meter race that takes several minutes to complete.


Atari 2600 Defender

Another top, and highly addictive, video game from the 1980s, Defender puts players in charge of a ship sent to protect mankind from wave after wave of attacking alien forces. Armed with smart bombs and a hyperdrive fight against bombers, pods, swarmers, baiters, and landers. The landers are the worst as they capture the humanoids and transform them into deadly and relentless Mutants. If you fail o save the humanoids form the mutants, the planet will be destroyed, ending your game.
